Research arm of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Fund medical and scientific research into all matters of women's health, as well as the health of newborn babies.

Wheelchair Users Group
Kent-based organisation which provides a comprehensive information service for wheelchair users, including advice on NHS wheelchair provision and the Voucher Scheme. Magazine available via subscription. Current projects include working with 'EmPower' to improve the consistency of wheelchair provision throughout the UK. Aiming to change their constitution to become a national organisation around September 2000.

Who Cares Trust
An organisation which promotes the welfare of children and young people in care, and those who have been in care. A helpline operates on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 3.30pm and 6pm to provide advice and information to the above client group. Answerphone at other times. Produces a magazine about care issues distributed to local authorities and publications on education, drugs etc.from a care angle.

Wigram Aid to Ability for Critically - Disabled Internet Students
WAACIS is a Charity that helps disabled people by providing computer training on how to use the Internet in their own homes at an affordable cost. The project arranges for well-qualified tutors to visit disabled people in their own homes, who check that computer equipment is up-to-date and in working order and then delivers a course of 10 sessions over 3-4 weeks. There is a process of assessment to ensure that the candidate has the capability and commitment to benefit fully from the WAACIS scheme, before any candidate is accepted.

Williams Syndrome Foundation
Facilitate research and support families of children with Williams Syndrome (incorporating Infantile Hypercalcaemia). Regional contacts around the country.

Winston Churchill Travelling Fellowship
This living memorial to Sir Winston operates a travelling fellowship scheme which enables UK citizens, resident in the UK and from all walks of life, to acquire knowledge overseas to the benefit of this country. Subjects cover the widest variety of topics: from the arts to industry and leading edge technology; conservation and the environment; social concerns and animal welfare, and from exploration and adventure to services for the disabled. As well as promoting a greater understanding between peoples, the experience makes Churchill Fellows more effective at work and in the community. Approximately 100 awards are made annually with an average duration abroad of eight weeks.

Wintonfield Systems
Company supplies a system for cinemas whereby visually impaired people can access an automatic audio description service.

Within Reach
This is a joint campaign by SCOPE and the NUT to improve access for disabled children in schools. They aim to encourage local education authorities to improve access and facilities for disabled children within schools.

Workable
Consortium set up by various major voluntary agencies which acts as an umbrella group to promote employment of disabled people. It forms a focal point for information exchange and the development of good practise.

Workbridge
Supports and assists visually impaired people into employment. It aims to help visually impaired people develop skills to get them into work, support them through the recruitment process and provide a continuum of assistance to both employee and employer.
