Talking Newspaper Association of the United Kingdom
The Talking Newspaper Assoc is a registered charity providing over 185 newspapers and magazines on audio tape and computer disc for those people who cannot read printed material, including the visually impaired, and otherwise disabled people.. Subscriptions cost o20.00 per year and listeners can choose as many publications, from The Daily Mail to Woman's Weekly and more, as they can reasonably listen to.

The Centre for Independent Living in Glasgow

The Neuropathy Trust
The Neuropathy Trust is a International organisation providing support to those affected by the neurological disorder - Peripheral Neuropathy.
Many of our members are affected by what is known as a cryptogenic or idiopathic neuropathy, which simply means that they have been diagnosed as having a peripheral neuropathy but the underlying cause has yet to be established. We also have an ever-increasing number of members who are affected by neuropathies of known origin, such as diabetes mellitus, HIV, nutritional deficiency, and as a result of the neurotoxic effects of certain prescribed treatments and therapies.
The trust offers a "listening ear" for people who wish to talk to fellow sufferers of this condition through an advice line which is open Wed-Thu, 10-4pm.There is also a Local Contact network, which is a group of volunteers that members of the Trust can ring for mutual support. The Trust has published a comprehensive booklet entitled 'Peripheral Neuropathy-Under the Spotlight' - which has been distributed to every major neurological unit within the UK. It also publishes a journal entitled 'Relay', which is distributed three times per year. For more information send a SAE

Thrive provide information and advice related to gardening for people
with disabilities or mental health problems. Services include advice
on tools, equipment and design. Thrive run short courses on setting up
a therapeutic horticulture programme. They run 5 gardens of their own
and are in contact with 1400 other projects around the UK.
Through the Roof
Through the Roof is a campaigning voluntary ministry, with 3 core objectives;
- to present the gospel of Jesus Christ to people 'affected by disability'
- to equip and train church leaders & lay people to make the church fully accessible to people with disabilities, by addressing the issues of both the physical enviroment and of deep-seated attitudes
- to encourage and equip disabled people for leadership in the church
Through the Roof also refurbish and redistribute wheelchiars(with Bibles & other literature) to recipients in Eastern Europe & Africa.

Offers comprehensive travel insurance cover. Basic cover excludes claims resulting from a pre-existing medical conditionb if treated as a hospital in-patient or been under the care of a specialist consultant within the last two years, or even been treated for a heart or breathing realted condition, or diagnosed as having caner.
