Nansen Highland
Provide relief to young persons and children who are in need, suffering hardship or depreivation; principally by the use of educationl and social training. Activities include: Holiday provision; education opportunities; countryside maintenance training; residential care; and run sports activities and outings.

National Advisory Council on Employment of People with Disab
NACEPD advise and assist the secretary of state on all matters concerning the employment & training of people with disabilities. Their aim is to increase the number of people with disabilities who get and retain employment/self employment. Minutes of meetings are available to the general public on request.

National Ankylosing Spondylitis Society
Exist to educate people with Ankylosing Spondylitis, the public & professionals. Also to fund research for early detection, prevention and cure; to promote better treatment facilities throughout the UK and to provide special assistance to those with the condition.

National Association for Colitis and Crohn's Disease
Aims to provide general information about inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), to those living with IBD, their relatives, friends and health care professionals. Promotes research into the treatment, management and causes of these diseases and publishes results. NACC provides: annual grants to researchers; individual welfare funds; NACC-in Contact listening service; booklets; quarterly newsletters; publicity; fundraising; area, local and national group meetings. Members are issued with a membership card. This also doubles as a card which requests access to the staff toilets of a number of national companies who agreed to participate in the scheme and make their facilities available.

National Association for Diverticular Disease
Offers support and advice for people with diverticular disease and their families.

National Association for Special Educational Needs
NASEN aims to: - promote the interests of those with exceptional learning needs and/or disabilities - provide a forum for those actively involved with exceptional learning needs and/or disabilities - contribute to the formulation and development of policy in the area.

National Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux
Provide free, impartial and confidential advice, through local bureaux, to anybody on any subject.

National Association of Toy and Leisure Libraries / Play Matters
Toy Libraries lend good quality carefully chosen toys to families with young children including those with special needs. They offer a befriending, supportive service to parents and carers. Leisure Libraries extend this concept to adults with special needs. Over 1000 toy libraries in the UK.

National Asthma Campaign
Helpline Mon - Fri 9-7pm An independent UK based charity wishing to conquer asthma in partnership with people with asthma, and all who share their concern. They aim to achieve this through a combination of research, education and support.

National Autistic Society
NAS exists to champion the rights and interests of all people with autism and to ensure that they and their families receive quality services appropriate to their needs. It has developed a range of educational and support services; runs schools and adult centres; offers families and carers information, advice and support; works to improve awareness of autism; offers a diagnostic and assessment service; and provides training and promotes research.

National Centre for Volunteering
Previously the Volunteer Centre UK. Runs training courses for volunteer coordinators and publishes information and advice about all aspects of volunteering. Research unit investigates trends which will impact upon volunteering. Promote an annual awareness week about volunteering. Membership is open to organisations.

National Children's Bureau
The National Children's Bureau works to identify and promote the well-being and interests of all children and young people across every aspect of of their lives. It encourages professionals and policy makers to see the needs of the whole child and emphasises the importance of multi-disciplinary, cross- partnerships.

National Consumer Council
The NCC was set up by the Government in 1975 to represent the interests of all UK consumers of goods and services of all kinds; both in the private and public sector. It is an independent body which campaigns, conducts research and supports other consumer organisations. It has particular reponsibility in representing disadvantaged consumers. It cannot advise consumers or act on their behalf on an individual basis.

National Council for Voluntary Organisations
The National Council for Voluntary Organisations was established in 1919 as the representative body for the voluntary sector. It is a membership based organisation, including some 850 national voluntary organisations. Through it's wide reaching activities, NCVO is also in touch with thousands of other voluntary bodies and groups, and has formed close links with government departments, local authorities, the European Community, statutory and public bodies and the business sector.

National Deaf Childrens Society
An organisation of families, parents and carers that enables deaf children to maximise their skills and abilities. It works to remove all the barriers which may hinder this process. The society works through a network of over 100 local groups, regional staff and its national office. Advice and information can be provided on any aspect of deafness including hearing tests and hearing aids, advice on Glue Ear, technology and equipment. It also provides an opportunity to try equipment in the user's home. It can give support with benefit claims and Disability Appeal Tribunals.

National Disability Council
OFFERS NO SERVICE DIRECT TO GENERAL PUBLIC. DO NOT GIVE OUT TELEPHONE NUMBER.The National Disability Council (NDC) or (NIDC) in Northern Ireland was created by Part VI of the Disability Discrimaination Act, 1995. Council members are appointed by the Secretary of State. The primary function of the council is to advise the Secretary of State on the following matters; the elimination of discrimination against disabled persons; measures which are likely to reduce or eliminate such discrimaination and matters related to the operation of the Act or provisions made under the Act (excluding employment issues). No advice service for members of the general public, but is interested in receiving feedback from organisations as to how the Act is working in practice.

National Disabled Persons Housing Service
The National DPHS does not offer services to the public, they are a support organisation for their members. They ofer specialist advice and provide/co-ordinate all the elements required to solve housing problems faced by disabled people. Provide details of your nearest group.

To improve the quality of life for people with Eczema and their carers. The society produces a list of Cotton Goods stockists and various information sheets.

National Endometriosis Society
Information and advice about Endometriosis and issues related to the condition.

National Endometriosis Society
Helpline daily between 7pm &10pm also Monday & Tuesday from 2-5pm. This society was founded to support those with the condition raise funds for research, and to create awareness of this chronic condition.

To identify potential healers and to encourage and acclerate their developement. To provide a national healer referal service to the public. To publicise spiritual healing through national exhibitions. To co-operate with doctors in a scientific programme for medical research into selected illnesses in NHS patients.

Full name - National Forum of Research into Lighting, Emergency Lighting and Wayfinding Provision for Sensory Impaired People. Provide a multi professional forum to encourage the understanding of the needs of people with sensory impairments in respect to lighting, emergency lighting and wayfinding. Aim to initiate academic and industrial research.

National Home Fees Agency
Helpline and website providing free independent advice and information on obtaining and paying for nursing home and residential care. NHFA advice and information is free and available to all regardless of means and encompasses local authority charging and assessment procedures, DSS benefit, guidance on legal matters and financial advice. The aim of the NHFA is to enable older people meet the cost of their chosen care for life whilst also preserving their original capital, independence and dignity.

National Institute of Conductive Education
The National Institute of Conductive Education provides direct services to children and aduts with motor disorders; cerebal palsy; multiply sclerosis; parkinsons disease; children with dyspraxia and those who have suffered strokes and head injuries.

National Key Scheme
A scheme which provides disabled people with exclusive access to designated public toilets nationwide. The toilets are fitted with a special lock which can be opened with a key available from local authorities or from the Royal Association for Disability and Rehabilitation (RADAR), the national co-ordinator for the scheme. RADAR also publish a directory of toilets fitted with NKS locks. Keys o3.50; directory o5.

National Kidney Research Fund
Raises money for research into the prevention and cure of kidney illnesses, training doctors and improving transplantation techniques.

National Library for the Blind
The NLB is the UK's only major lending library for people who read by touch. It offers a free and post free lending service of books in Braille and Moon to anyone who requires it. The library has a collection of 40,000 titles in Braille including fiction and non fiction, books for younger readers and music. The collection of Moon titles is the largest in the world. New readers are always welcome and the Library provides support for those learning Braille or Moon.

National Lottery Charities Board
The National Lottery Charities Board is an independent body set up by Parliament to distribue funds to support charitable, benevolent and philanthripic organisations. The Board's main aim is to give grants to help meet the needs of those at greatest disadvantage in society and to improve the quality of life in the community. there are 17 Board members Decisions on grants are made by the members.

National Meningitis Trust
The National Meningitis Trust was founded by people with a direct experience of meningitis. It leads the fight against the disease by producing an extensive range of information material; funds research into vaccines and treatment; and offers a wide range of support services, including a 24 hour helpline.

National Osteoporosis Society
To releive sicknness and promote and advance medical knowledge with particular referance to all aspects of osteoporosis and similar and related conditions. To undertake and publish research.

National Playing Fields Association
This organisation is able to provide information and advice on holiday play schemes, including those for children with disabilities. A wide range of publications are available. It carries out playground inspections, deals with the acquisition, protection and improvement of playing fields and is involved in education and training on aspects of play.

National Rehabilitation Centre for the Paralysed
Uses exercise therapy to rebuild lives shattered by paralysis. The Centre treats conditions such as varied spinal cord injury and quadreipleagia (tetraplegia), MS. stroke, spina bifida and brain damage.

National Society for Epilepsy
To provide assessment, rehabilitation and longer-term care for people with epilepsy. Also to carry out extensive research into the the condition and its treatment, and to provide an education service for professionals, people with epilepsy, their families, and the general public.

National Society for Phenylketonuria
Offer the opportunity for parents to meet and share their experiences. Provide information and details of regional support groups. Family membership o12 per year. Quaterly magazine and booklets.

National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children
The NSPCC has over 120 Child Protection Teams throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland, who work with children and families to help them overcome the effects of emotional, physical, sexual abuse and neglect, and to prevent further abuse from happening. National Trust Disability Office
Charity committed to the protection of the places of historic interest and natural beauty in its care. Provides access wherever possible to historic buildings, gardens, countryside and coast. publications include an annual booklet giving details of access at the vast majority of NT properties and a leaflet outlining the Trust's policy and practices regarding disabled visitors.

Information on over 120 woodland burial grounds, where a tree is planted instead of having a headstone. Cardboard and regular coffins can be mail ordered, inexpensive funerals arranged, familily organised funerals facilitated and more options available.
