Carers National Association
CNA exists for all individuals who act as carers, for disabled, elderly or frail people. It offers advice & information on all aspects of caring, to both carers & professionals. CNA has over 120 local support groups, and campaigns & lobbies policy makers for a better deal for all carers. The helpline is open from 10:00 -12:00 & 2:00 - 4:00 Monday - Friday. Produces a bi-monthly magazine 'The Carer' on issues related to disability. Advertisments for second hand equipment may be placed.

Centre for Accessible Environments
CAE is a registered charity providing information. It also acts as a training body on the accessibility of the built environment for disabled people. The centre is committed to the provision of buildings and spaces that are safe, convenient and enjoyable to use by everyone, including disabled and older people. It's services include: information and advice by letter and telephone; advice on compliance with Part M; training on legislation; design and awareness issues; in-house training; consultation seminars; design guides; handbooks and factsheets. A specialist reference library offers an Architectural Advisory Service comprising CAE members.

Children Living With Inherited Metabolic Diseases
Formally known as 'Research Trust for Metabolic Diseases in Children (RTMDC). Aims to: Further medical research in metabolic diseases in children and young people. To support children with metabolic diseases and their families. To raise awareness about metabolic diseases and their effects. To make grants and allowances for the purposes of medical treatment and care of children and young people suffering from metabolic diseases to parents, hospitals, homes or institututions. Classic Homes Careline is a free public service, operating to provide information and advice for people and their families seeking nursing or residential care. The service is expanding to cover the rest of the country after primarily operating in the South East. The telephone advisors are trained to discuss the most appropriate type of care to meet the individual's needs. Careline holds on file details of residential and nursing homes that are registered with the local inspecting authority.

College of Occupational Therapists
COT is the professional body representing occupational therapists in the UK. The CTA's advice and information service is funded by the Department of Environment. It can offer advice and information on all aspects of minibus and accessible transport operation. It also provides training on many subjects, either as pre-booked training days or tailor made to suit the needs of an organisation.

Contact a Family
Contact a Family links with a network of more than 1000 self help/mutual support groups for parents of children with special needs and disabilities. Local groups usually cover a range of special needs, but more than 400 are run nationally for parents whose children have a specific, sometimes rare disorder. CaF offers support and training to parents involved in running these groups both locally and nationally. The information and advice service links families together and encourages mutual support between parents. It provides a helpline and publishes a quarterly newsletter, a vary of leaflets, and the CaF Directory of specific conditions and support groups.

Cou-r.a.g.e UK
Non profit making group which provides mutual support for members, family and friends of members coping with injuries which result from radiotherapy.
